What the Holidays Mean to You

Did everyone have fun at Karla's party yesterday? I had a ball! It was so nice to visit everyone and see your decorations. I loved the homes all decked out in pinks and greens, glam and glitter. It's not the way I decorate, but I think that's why I liked them so much. It was nice to see such a beautiful contrast. Big thanks to Karla for hosting the event and kudos to all of the work that she did. I still have some cookies left that I put out this morning and of course there's coffee brewing. Please be careful when dropping by today. According to our police scanner, the roads are icing up!

What The Holidays Mean to You

For you, the holidays are a very spiritual time. You have as much holiday fun as everyone else - but you never forget what you're celebrating.

You celebrate the holidays in a minimalist style. You are likely to only give one great present and decorate your house with a few special items.

During the holidays, you like to feel cozy and comfortable. You're happy to stay inside with a roaring fire and a warm drink.

You think the holidays should be decadent and indulgent. You never mind gaining a few holiday pounds... it's worth it!

Your favorite holiday memories strongly evoke your senses. You are vividly aware of all the tastes, smells, and sounds of the holidays.

I took this little quiz this morning but I think it's only partially right. I don't do minimalist anything. But the rest is pretty accurate. Oh look, there's still some Sangria left. Anyone need a drink?

#110 ~ When a family member looks really stressed out, give them a big hug!

Good Morning Julie,
'Bout time you get up. I was beginning to think you had one too many Sangria's. LOL. Even tho I didn't participate, I enjoyed visiting everyone and seeing their decorations. Everything was just beautiful. Maybe next year I will be able to do it. I think I will have some coffee with just creamer. And of course, some of your cookies to go along with it. I hope the roads don't get too bad. Don't get out if you don't have to. Stay inside and stay warm. Ice is no fun. I enjoyed reading your Holiday Meme. I may do it later on. Thanks for sharing it with us. I do enjoy reading about others ideas and memories they have. Well, take care my friend and have a great Thursday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.
P.S. Stay away from the Sangria to day. LOL.

Our roads are finally getting back to normal, most of them anyway, but snow is coming tomorrow...

I like the quiz, I'm going to take it now! lol
(I'm the most minimalist person i know when it comes to Christmas, so we'll see what it tells me!)

Hey Julie,
I came back and did "What the Holidays Mean to You". Here is what it said about me:

For you, the holidays are about emotional connections and bonds. You are happiest being around those you love.

You celebrate the holidays in a offbeat style. You believe the holidays are for doing whatever you feel like - and some of your "traditions" are pretty wacky.

During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in.

You think the holidays should be decadent and indulgent. You never mind gaining a few holiday pounds... it's worth it!

Your favorite holiday memories are complete and very visual. Past holiday events play out like a video in your mind.

A couple of them aren't right, but the other ones are. Thanks for letting me share this with you. I enjoyed it. Take care my friend and have a great Thursday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

I took the quiz too, we share a couple of points.

I loved seeing your home all decorated for Christmas:) It is so beautiful, I especially liked the garland on the bannister.

Thanks for the yummy Christmas cookies, you are such an inviting hostess.

Take care on the icy roads.

I try to keep in forefront why I celebrate Christmas. I love to decorate, not too much, not too little. Love being around the fire, nice and cozy and give little gifts to friends. Hope you are having a lovely day.

The holidays make me miss my old days. And I want to make the holidays good enough that my kids will miss their old days. I feel I don't do a good enough job with the latter part.

When the kids visit the house is decorated with several trees cut from our forest and special decorations are displayed. When we are alone, the house is minimally decorated, one tree that the cats destroy....and this year we have 2 kittens experiencing their very first Christmas. Meals are simle as I am a so-so cook....but there is a lot to eat. I miss the hustle and bustle of Holidays past, but there is a special peace that comes with living rurally and having snow on Christmas. I think most of all I miss my mom's cookies and pies at this time of year. We baked and baked and then boxed up tons of cookies to send to family in Virginia.

You think the holidays should be nostalgic and sweet. The holidays bring out your inner child.

Your best holiday memories are of childhood foods and traditions. You secretly still wish you believed in Santa Claus.

This is me julie..Thanks for the fun.

I took the quiz too and got an answer that mostly sounds like me. Any holiday is all about family and emotional connections. I love everyone's ideas about what Christmas means and the ways they celebrate though.

Oh dear, I didn't have time for blogging yesterday and missed Karla's party. That questionnaire looks like fun; I'm going to try it as soon as I finish this comment.

Your decorations are gorgeous.
