Still Celebrating...

C 4
So, the decorations went up inside yesterday. All but the tree and the outside lights. But that will be done today. My Our intention was to put it up yesterday along with the other stuff. Kenny and Austin went to buy more lights for outside and our staircase and Jesse and I were to decorate the inside while they were gone. But because I was at a complete stand-still for about an hour yesterday afternoon, wondering how the heck I was going to decorate my mantle, things got pushed back. I sat cross-legged on the living room floor, head resting on the coffee table trying to figure out what to do for a good hour. Between the coffee table and the mantle, I was almost to the point of tears. I was bound and determined that this year I was not putting up every decoration I own. The house was not going to look cluttered. It was going to look "pretty." But because I was going for a different look - the entire 'room scape' had to change. And I couldn't quite figure it out. Finally, Jesse said "take the Santa sleigh and reindeer down and put it somewhere else if you don't like it there." WOW! What a novel idea. One that truly never occurred to me because that's where it always went. I moved it and things started coming together.

Kenny came home with the garland for the banister and the lights. Up went the stairs and then company came. Kerry and Greg came down. Then Holly and Bill. We played Pictionary, Taboo and Guesstures. We had a great evening. But the Christmas tree still waits to be on display. Oh well. It'll happen today and then I'll take pictures. Or better still, my mom will have to because the cable for my digital camera isn't working. All and all, I'm pretty pleased. Greg even said that it looked like Martha herself stopped over. Now I'm not so naive that I think my house looks like Martha Stewart had a hand in decorating it. But he doesn't know any better, so it was a genuine compliment.

Unfortunately, between decorating and company, again I haven't been around to visit everyone as I should. And today isn't looking much better. My brother and his family are home from SC and today we'll have cake for my nephew's 18th birthday!! It was last Tuesday but they weren't here to celebrate. Then we have to finish the decorations. BUT, there is no Steeler game on today (they play tomorrow night) so maybe this evening I'll have some time. If nothing else...the celebration ends tomorrow and back to the grind we go. The kids still have another day off from school, but Kenny returns to work and the regular routine must begin again. Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!

Blessing of the day: I'm blessed to have good friends who drop over at the drop of a hat. It tells me they always feel welcome and prior arrangements are never necessary.

Hi,
I look forward to seing your house decorated! When I used to live with my parents we would decorate on the 8th of december as my birthday is on the 10th. Mum and me do the tree and dad would put up the high decorations. With my mum changing her mind and pins not stating in, we were also happy when the trimmings were eventually up! ha,ha

Sounds like you have had a similar weekend to mine. I did not put everything out this year either. I just have too much old stuff that I can't part with, but sometimes it does look cluttered if I put it all out.
I know how you feel :)
Is it getting cold there?

Good Evening Julie,
I'm sorry to be so late for commenting, but I have been very busy today. Hubby had to leave out late this afternoon and I had laundry to do and cook for hubby and the kids and then cook for the kids again tonight. I hope everything gets back to normal tomorrow where I can post and comment on a regular basis. I decorated yesterday afternoon some more also. It felt like I was running around in circles at times. LOL. I did get my village over here, but it's still yet to be put up. I will work on that hopefully this week. My oldest daughter has 2, maybe 3 or more basketball games this week. So, I'm going to be doing alot of traveling. It has been raining here all day. Well, take care my friend and have a Blessed evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

My boxes are now down from the attic. That is a first step, no?

And since I am now the host of a holiday party in two weeks (surprise!), I better get my rear in gear.

I am sure your home will be lovely, how can it not be? Can't wait to see it.

Looking forward to seeing the decorations! I too had a moment of frustration decorating today! My daughter finally just began taking over and voila! it all started to come together! I think sometimes we just need another set of eyes to get a new perspective!
Take care!

Hey Julie...I did what you did...I only put about 1/2 of our ornaments on the tree...the tree is still FULL and you can't even tell that every single ornament we own isn't there!
I am catching up on posts too as this is the first time I have posted since the day before Thanksgiving!
Love,
Robin
